Estimator/Project Manager

Richard Goettle, Inc. (www.goettle.com), a leading geotechnical construction company, specializing in design/build earth retention systems, deep foundations, and marine construction is seeking a dynamic individual to join their Pittsburgh team as an Estimator/Project Manager. The Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for managing specialty geotechnical projects with a “cradle to grave” approach from estimating to construction to project close-out.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to sell Goettle to prospective clients and retain existing customers
  • Read and interpret job bid instructions and detailed specifications for preparation of estimates
  • Calculate quantities and costs of construction items for estimating projects
  • Accurate understanding of project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to interpret project scope of work
  • Develop preliminary construction schedules based on the project information provided in the plans and specifications
  • Direct interaction/oversight with project superintendents to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget
  • Direct communications with owners, developers, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors
  • Review weekly job cost reporting
  • Manage all financial aspects for projects, including monthly pay applications
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience with design/build deep foundation projects and foundation design parameters, a plus
  • Proven success in negotiating and closing the deal
  • Project scheduling background
  • BS or MS Engineering degree – focus on geotechnical, civil, or structural engineering or construction management, preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years estimating and project management experience related to geotechnical construction
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with the exceptional ability to pay attention to details
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments while achieving timely and quality results
  • Exhibit leadership and authority in order to solve problems and achieve project success
  • Respond to challenges and time pressures with a positive attitude
  • Travel on an as-needed basis, including overnight requirements
  • Promote a safety culture and ensure safety practices
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process
