Looking Forward - Major School Construction Projects in the Pipeline

With a handful of significant public school construction projects having already bid in the first two months of 2017, the rest of the year will offer additional opportunities to contractors across Pennsylvania. A sampler of upcoming projects:

Manheim Central School District - a new Gramby Street K-5 Elementary is on the boards at the architectural firm EI Associates . Abacus Construction Management will manage the bidding and contracts for the 96,000 square foot building. Bid packages (General, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical) are scheduled to be released before the end of March for this project. Estimated construction budget is $25 to $30 million .

Architects Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates expect to complete design by the end of March for renovations to Bainbridge Elementary in the Elizabethtown Area School District. Total construction cost is estimated at approximately $10 million .

Second quarter, 2017, will bring the notice to bidders for an expansion of the Acmetonia Primary School near Cheswick, Pa. The Allegheny Valley School district has hired the Foreman Group to complete design of the addition with an estimated budget of $11 to $12.5 million .

In the second half of 2017, State College Area Schools will bid three large elementary projects - a New Houserville Elementary ($20 million), an expansion/renovation of Corl Street Elementary ($16 million), and an expansion/ renovation of Radio Park Elementary ($19 million). Crabtree Rohrbaugh & Associates is the architect of record and Pittsburgh based Massaro Corporation will serve as Construction Manager.
